Steel Lake 3A Twins Win Federal Way 3A Tournament

Federal Way National Little League Complex
Federal Way, WA

The Steel Lake Twins faced off early Saturday morning against a foe that has played them to the wire lately, and emerged victorious. They played the same opponent as Tuesday, when the game came down to the wire just to make the championship game, when they had to come back and beat the FWNLL Twins 11-10 in the bottom of the 6th in the semi-finals.

FWN jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Steel Lake kids came back and tied it at 1 in the bottom of the inning and took a 2-1 lead in the 2nd. They eventually built a 5-1 lead, but the starting pitcher reached his pitch limit in the 4th. FWN used that change to mount a worthy comeback letting the Twins know that they'd need to earn this win, and eventually took the lead 9-8 after 4 1/2 innings.

That challenge was immediately met with back-to-back triples and some great hustle, getting 5 runs back in the bottom of the 5th. With the lead restored and going into the unlimited run 6th, Steel Lake had a lot of momentum going for them. The Steel Lake Twins sent FWN down in order, striking out the first two batters and getting the 3rd on a light grounder back to the mount and an easy toss over to 1st for the game winning out.

Congratulations to the Steel Lake 3A Twins! Way to go boys!
